Hassard Bonnington LLP Senior Counsel Joanna L. Storey Presents Ethics of Practicing Law in a Digital World

We at Hassard Bonnington LLP are proud to announce that on January 9, 2017, Senior Counsel Joanna Storey appeared at the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) to present the “Ethics of Practicing Law in a Digital World.” She was joined by fellow panelists William C. Jhaveri-Weeks of Goldstein, Borgen, Dardarian & Ho and John F. Mounier of Elder Protection Attorneys to discuss the implications of a paperless office, eFiling ethics and responsibilities, electronic discovery ethics and responsibilities, and digital communications.

"From an attorney who started practicing when the Discovery Act was brand new, the insights Joanna provided into ethics and electronic records inspection, maintenance and production were eye-opening. This relatively new and ever-changing aspect of legal practice has more traps for the unwary than the Rule Against Perpetuities. Being familiar with these ethical insights is essential for any attorney charged under the Rules of Professional Conduct with the obligation to offer competent and up-to-date legal services to his or her clients." – Philip S. Ward, Managing Senior Partner at Hassard Bonnington LLP.

Ms. Storey is a member of BASF's Legal Ethics Committee and she actively follows privacy, security and ethics developments. Her ethics article on best practices for choosing exhibits in a time when court records are online and easily accessible to the public will be published in an upcoming BASF bulletin.
