Mr. Frieder specializes in complex civil litigation, with particular emphasis in the Life Sciences field and he has been litigating cases since 1980. His active practice includes medical device, pharmaceutical, general product liability, insurance coverage and other complex personal injury, property damage and commercial matters.

Representing businesses as well as individuals, Mr. Frieder's experience includes multidistrict litigation in federal courts as well as coordinated and consolidated litigation in state courts. He has served as national, regional and local counsel.

In the medical device field, Mr. Frieder has litigated cases involving orthopedic implants, lasers, ventilators, pain pumps, oxygenators, latex gloves, mobile CT scanners, catheters, pedicle screws, stents, arterial blood gas kits, ventricular assist devices, hernia mesh, automated external defibrillators, contact lenses, as well as numerous other devices. In pharmaceutical litigation, he has defended both brand and generic manufacturers involving a wide range of prescription and over-the-counter drugs and his experience has also included the defense of cases involving dietary supplements and skin care products. Outside of the Life Sciences field, Mr. Frieder's experience has included defending manufacturers of aircraft, bicycles, commercial bakery ovens, water tubing, playground equipment, automotive components, elevators, and many other products.

Mr. Frieder is a member of the Products Liability Committee and the Drug & Medical Device Committee of The Defense Research Institute, and the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California.

Recognised as the MEDMARC Defense Attorney of the Year in 1995, Mr. Frieder is also the recipient of American Jurisprudence Awards in Conflict of Law and Administrative Law.

Mr. Frieder serves as an Arbitrator for the Superior Court in and for the City and County of San Francisco.
