Mr. Zimmerman is a managing partner of the firm. He is a former Senior Trial Attorney with the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, whose civil practice experience since joining the firm in 1986 has included medical and legal professional liability defense, commercial litigation in the health care field, and products liability. Included in the cases he has handled are hybrid civil rights/professional negligence claims brought against individual health care providers as well as public employees and entities responsible for medical treatment and conditions of confinement.

Mr. Zimmerman both speaks and writes on issues arising in his practice and has served as a Contributing Editor for the C.E.B. Civil Litigation Reporter. For five consecutive years, Mr. Zimmerman has been named to the California Super Lawyers list as one of the top attorneys in California.

Trial Experience

Anderson: Defense verdict after seven-day trial on behalf of physician in a claim alleging negligence during cataract surgery and post-operative care following surgery resulting in blindness of the affected eye.

Cleary: Unanimous defense verdict following seventeen-day trial on behalf of physician in claim alleging unnecessary abdominal surgery resulted in damage to the small bowel. Plaintiff asked jury to award $800,000 to $1.07 million.

Tomlin: Defense verdict following six-day trial on behalf of physician in a claim alleging failure to diagnose appendicitis resulting in a perforated appendix, peritonitis and damage to the small bowel.

Schaan: Unanimous defense verdict following seven-day trial on behalf of physician in a claim alleging negligent surgery following an unsuccessful vasectomy resulting in spouse’s pregnancy.

Frauehoff: Unanimous defense verdict on behalf of physician in a case that involved standard of care during stapedectomy.
